About the role
People Team are on a journey to make Exemplas the place where people can do their best work. The overriding idea is that our people are the foundation for overall business success. This role is critical to shaping and influencing positive people experience effectively.

Typically, we like to do things differently and we organise our work in three interlocking areas: Running like clockwork – Getting things done – Crafting the future, multiskilling across to maximise capability and optimise capacity.
Here is a preview of the things you will be doing:
- Leading and managing People Advisors, in aspects of people management activities;
- Driving the seamless delivery of a full range to the employee lifecycle activities including payroll and benefits administration, providing hands-on support as required;
- Being the trusted partner to people leaders, pushing boundaries in their thinking to ensure they act fairly and consistently to achieve the best outcomes for the business;
- Coaching our managers and leaders to foster harmonious employee relations and drive performance and collaboration in their teams;
- Leading and collaborating on People projects and change management programmes (restructures, redundancies, TUPE);
- Translating Exemplas strategies into a pragmatic people plan;
- Proactively talking to the business, using commercial and people data insights, to identify issues and trends before they emerge, and implementing relevant people solutions;
- Identifying best practices from peer organisations and other exemplar businesses to proactively drive innovative, business responsive People across the employee lifecycle.
The role requires occasional travel to locations in England and Wales rarely involving overnight stays.
You don’t have to have experience from similar operating model, but you have to be curious about working in an agile setting, where we are passionate with having the most impact and bringing the right competencies together to solve our people’s needs.
About you
This role is for you if you have:
- Significant experience in HR role directly supporting senior leaders;
- Previous experience of managing HR teams and developing less experienced colleagues;
- Bonafide HR generalist skills across the whole spectrum of People function;
- Experience designing and embedding integrated and aligned People practices and initiatives;
- Sound working knowledge of employment-related regulation and law;
- Understanding of the commercial context in which the business operates to equip leaders with the data-driven insights they need to make impactful decisions;
- Digital savvy to embrace technology and work and collaborate effectively in digital environment;
- Inherent propensity for pragmatism and, flexibility to balance your workload in a fast-paced, busy environment with rapidly changing priorities;
- Excellent communication and natural influencing skills to instil trust with everyone you interact with and build strong relationships – quickly;
- Resilience and self-assurance to deal with transparency, ambiguity, and change;
- Confidence to prioritise, manage expectations, and protect boundaries;
- Conviction to speak up and ability to challenge with empathy to have the tough conversations that drive progress.
This role is unlikely to be a match if:
- Boundaries and prioritisation are the first thing to drop when things get busy
- This would be a transition role or first time as a People Business Partner
- You struggle to communicate confidently

Our pay structure reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. For this part-time role, the expected salary range is between £29,016 and £36,000 (FTE £48,360 and £60,000) per annum, Actual salary on offer will depend on relevant skills, knowledge, qualifications and experience, and will be accompanied by a range of excellent benefits including:
