David has worked in economic development, at the intersection between SME business support, Government and Higher Education, for over twenty-five years at a national and regional level. Alongside his responsibilities as at Exemplas, he is currently chair of the IUK Business Growth Consortium Operational Advisory Board (COAB), member of the DBT Task & Finish Groups for the new Business Growth Service, Customer Journey, and Data & Digital working groups. He is an attending officer at University of Hertfordshire Holdings Board, and the University Knowledge Exchange Advisory Board. Having worked for several years in policy influencing, design and implementation of SME services, in areas including innovation, export, productivity, growth, and access to finance, his more recent focus is how the business embraces new technology, data and research-based evidence to better inform service design and continuous improvement. This in turn has led to a series of insight papers to inform Government and policy makers around key agendas, such as SME business growth and productivity.
