On our most recent brokerage event, we worked with the British Embassy Madrid to bring UK and Spanish companies together. The event focused on businesses within the nanotechnology and advanced materials space and 120 delegates and stakeholders attended from across the UK and Spain, including two influential companies from the IBEX 35; Acciona and Repsol. Over the course of the event 200 B2B meetings were facilitated, along with eight key speakers and 14 pitches from SMEs and technological centres, successfully enabling collaboration and partnering opportunities. In addition, three panel discussions took place on Development, Industrial and Research Infrastructure Strategies, allowing further discussion and insight to be shared.
We were pleased to welcome Sam Gyimah, Minister of State for Universities, Science, Research and Innovation, who contributed to the panel discussions and highlighted the continued success of the links between innovators and researchers in the UK and Spain. Using the event as a chance to celebrate and think about future prospects he stated: “Our relationship with Spanish innovators and researchers is of upmost importance to us. Together, we can build on the connections which already exist between our two countries to do ever better research, allowing high growth businesses to thrive.”
During the event we spoke to Sara Cebrián of the British Embassy Madrid about her positive experiences of partnering with the Enterprise Europe Network.
