G20 2019 Summit Roundup

The G20 (Group of 20) is an annual meeting of leaders from countries with the largest and fastest-growing economies (19 countries plus the EU). World leaders get together to discuss the most important current financial and economic issues. Together these countries account for 85% of the world economy and two-thirds of its population. This year’s summit it took place in Osaka, Japan and included subjects including trade wars, international tensions, climate change and the fight against deadly diseases and terrorist propaganda.

Innovate UK Delivery Plan 2019-2020

As the UK’s innovation agency, Innovate UK has succeeded in investing over £2.2 billion across more than 11,000 projects over the last 12 years. These have created as much as £16 billion in gross value added to the UK economy and 70,000 jobs. Now, as part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), Innovate UK has set out a plan to drive sustainable economic growth through business-led innovation.

BEIS SME Action Plan – supporting SMEs to bid for public contracts

Although SMEs may be small, their impact is huge. The UK’s 5.7 million small and medium sized businesses employ 16 million people and account for £1.9 trillion of turnover. The SME Action Plan unveiled by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy will unlock more opportunities for smaller businesses to bid for and win government contracts.
